Parent Consultation

Parenting can be difficult when trying to balance daily life with family and work, and it can be even more difficult for your child when issues such as bullying, ADHD, anxiety, or depression interfere with that balance. Child therapy can teach your child to cope with these diagnoses and life stressors and make life easier for your child and family. Parent consultations are offered to assist your child in their progress and can be helpful in making your home less stressful and run smoother.

What is Child therapy like?

Therapy for children can be fun and meaningful. Most sessions with children will include learning more about themselves, their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and how to manage them with the appropriate coping skills. Sessions typically include playing a game, drawing pictures, or writing to practice the skills that are learned, build a good relationship between child and therapist, and provide a supportive space for active listening. Parents are encouraged to continue communicating with the therapist through the process and are kept well-informed with the focus and progress of treatment.

Neurofeedback can help any areas where the brain or body are not functioning appropriately, efficiently, or is dysregulated. Neurofeedback is highly recommended for the physiological symptoms of ADHD.

Divorce

Divorce or separation can be a challenging time and children may need to adjust to the changes. Counseling can give extra support and assistance with confusing feelings for your child or children during this time to navigate family changes and remain healthy and balanced. Typically both parents with joint legal custody will need to consent to the child or children's treatment prior to the start of treatment. For current custody issues, it's recommended that children see therapists who specialize in custody arrangements and/or court procedures. Contact Us for more information.
