Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

This type is a common form of anxiety that appears in several different situations. GAD is a chronic excessive worries and stress that is higher than what individuals experience on a typical day. An individual may have excessive worries about their decisions, behaviors, interactions, thoughts, and may suffer from many "what if" statments.

Social anxiety /
SOcial phobia

This type of anxiety is related to social interactions and situations, including public speaking. An individual may worry about being anxious or even embarrassed in social settings.

Panic Attacks

Panic attacks can be scary or uncomfortable occurrences where individuals may experience sensations such as difficulty breathing, dizziness, sweating, and/or trembling, among others. These panic attacks can be unexpected or expected and some individuals may at first believe they are having a heart attack.

The fear of being in places without help or an escape is called Agoraphobia. This may include worrying about losing control in places, being alone or fear that there won't be a way to escape. An individual may avoid places or situations where they feel their anxiety could be triggered.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

OCD presents itself with both recurring thoughts and repetitive behaviors that are upsetting and often undesired. An individual may act on the compulsions to lessen the obsessive thoughts. Some common obsessions include fears about germs, safety or aggressive behaviors. Some common compulsions include counting, checking, or hand washing.

Anxiety Disorder Unspecified

This is a category of anxiety that describes a situation where an individual may have anxiety that interferes with their daily life but does not meet enough criteria for any of the above types.
