Dane Vega, AMFT
Registered Associate Marriage & Family Therapist

Supervised by Theresa Martinez, LMFT

I am a Registered Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (AMFT135364), supervised by Theresa Martinez (LMFT131771). I graduated from Point Loma Nazarene with a master’s degree in clinical counseling.

In terms of spirituality, I minored in theology in my undergrad days and believe therapists need to be open and curious about a client’s religion, spirituality, or higher calling in whatever that may be. However, I also believe that great healing can be done with or without a spiritual component. As such I leave it to the client to lead us in how far we dive into that realm within our treatment together.

Clinical Experience

I have worked with a wide variety of backgrounds, cultures, ages, genders, sexualities, and experiences during my career and helped address many mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and co-occurring mental health and addiction.

I believe individuals have within themselves all the tools they need to heal, that said life makes it hard to use them consistently. I tend to specialize in therapy modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as these modalities take a trauma-informed, client-centered, and systemic approach to addressing everyday situations that get in the way of implementing these inherent tools. I also implement Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills and techniques, to aid clients in being able to implement practical behavioral change alongside the process modalities mentioned previously.

Overall as a therapist, I believe in aiding my clients in identifying what they value and what truly matters to them, and helping them achieve the goals that align with those things. However, there are many hiccups on that road and my goal is to aid clients in navigating them. By aiding clients in reconnecting with their psychological parts that are trying to help (but in the wrong way) and getting them back to actually helping them correctly we can get you back on the path to where you want to be.
