Raquel Maya-Pimentel, AMFT
Registered Associate Marriage & Family Therapist, AMFT

Supervised by ————-

I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFTxxxxxx) with a strong foundation in trauma-informed care, child and adolescent therapy, and school-based mental health. I hold a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with an emphasis in Trauma from Pacific Oaks College and a B.A. in Applied Psychology from Mount Saint Mary’s University. My clinical experience spans diverse settings including schools, hospitals, and community-based programs.

Before entering the mental health field, I spent nearly a decade working in healthcare, supporting individuals and families through deeply personal and often emotionally complex experiences. My work included roles at an infertility clinic, The LGBT Center, Planned Parenthood, and UCLA Health in OBGYN services. These experiences deepened my understanding of human resilience and helped shape my inclusive, empathetic approach to care—particularly when working with underserved communities, women, and individuals navigating reproductive health, identity, and systemic barriers.

Clinical Experience

In my therapeutic work, I draw from a strengths-based, client-centered lens, integrating play therapy, narrative practices, and expressive arts. I am especially passionate about supporting children and youth impacted by trauma, identity development challenges, anxiety, depression, ADHD and emotional regulation issues.

I strive to create a warm, affirming space where clients feel empowered to explore their stories, reconnect with their inner resources, and move toward healing and growth. I consider it a profound privilege to walk alongside people through life’s ups and downs, offering support, presence, and care. I have never felt more aligned or fulfilled than I do in this role, and I am committed to creating spaces where individuals feel seen, heard, and capable of transformation.
